As part of the new National Day of Service and Remembrance, the WV Business Volunteer Council and Volunteer West Virginia programs partnered with Mountaineer Food Bank and Huntington Area Food Banks to promote and participate in a statewide food drive. Below are some successes from the project.
The PENDLETON COUNTY CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) participated in a food drive for the CAN (Christian Assistance Network), which was a big success. On Septemeber 26th, the Team of volunteers collected over 400 pounds of canned foods, plus cash donations of $240.00, at the Great Valu in Franklin. "It was truly overwhelming to see the heart of giving from the citizens of Pendleton County", Sue Sites, of the Office of Emergency Management, said.
