Q. How secure is my information?
A. We will never share, sell, or rent personal or partner organization information with anyone without your permission or unless ordered by a court of law. Information submitted to us is only available to employees managing your information for the purpose of contacting you based upon your requests. You can search for volunteer opportunities without registering; however, registering benefits both you and the partner organization you volunteer with! Creating a profile enables us to contact you when special training is available and new volunteer opportunities arise. If you create a Volunteer Profile and record your volunteer hours, our system will only allow the partner organizations for which you volunteer to access your profile. Refer to our privacy policy for further information.
Q. What if I get "no matches found?"
A. Try searching on more general criteria. Volunteer opportunities are constantly updated and you’ll be notified as matches occur.
Q. Can I remove myself from volunteerWV.org?
A. Yes. Log on, go to edit profile, and select "inactivate profile." However, if you just want to log your volunteer hours without getting new emails about volunteer opportunities, go to edit profile and change the “How to Reach Me” section to “Do Not Contact.”
Q: My school requires community service. Can you help?
A: Yes. We encourage organizations to post volunteer opportunities appropriate for community service! And after you volunteer, record your hours with volunteerWV.org. Log on, select reports, select volunteer timesheet, print the form and have the organization sign it.
Q. Is there a charge for signing up, searching for volunteer opportunities or for recording volunteer hours?
A. No. It's free!
FAQs for Organizations
Q. Why should our non-profit organization register with Volunteer West Virginia?
A. The volunteerWV.org website is viewed by thousands of potential volunteers. The search criteria will match you with volunteers who have the skills and interests you are looking for.
Q. How do I add my organization to volunteerWV.org?
A. Go to the Partners section and click "Sign Up!" Complete the online organization profile and print out the Memorandum of Understanding. A senior staff person or officer should sign the Memorandum in blue ink. Mail it to us using the address below. Your application will be reviewed and within a few days, you will receive notification by email. If your organization is approved, the User ID and Password you have submitted will be activated and you may begin submitting volunteer opportunities. You may update your profile and add new volunteer opportunities at any time. Your information is updated immediately.
Q: I’m a Volunteer Coordinator for a nonprofit. Can you help me find volunteers?
A: Yes. With the approval of your organization’s director or senior officer, submit an online organization profile and send in the signed Memorandum of Agreement. After receiving notification of approval you may begin posting volunteer opportunities
